Featured Review

Current Employee - Area Director

I have been working at N2 Publishing full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Residual income, bonuses, you are the boss, set your own schedule, build relationships, provide value to the community, help businesses grow, lots of support, amazing coworkers and staff,... opportunities for personal growth, leadership opportunities, travel opportunities, recognition, fulfilling, consistent improvements to the system/workflow, technological advances, they listen to your input, franchise cares about you and your family

Cons

your mind/fear can get in the way of doing the work, 100% commission, it's your business/no one to hold your hand/keep you accountable (unless you ask), dealing with rejection/not taking it... personally, self-sabotage can prevent you from being successful

Advice to Management

Keep doing an amazing job!

Former Employee - Assistant Production Editor

I worked at Penguin Random House full-time for more than a year

Pros

The company culture is great and it feels very much like the company actually cares about its employees.

Cons

Publishing as a whole is a low-pay industry, but it feels extra insulting when working at the top publishing house in the world still doesn't pay you enough to live comfortably in NYC. Many divisions... are run by bad managers that have been with the company for many years and are unwilling to change and adapt to new policies and technologies.
