Former Intern - Intern

I worked at NEH for less than a year

Pros

Many warm, passionate staffers; autonomy; will work on some projects that are helpful

Cons

Some people there are cold and bureaucratic, a lot of time doing nothing

Current Employee - Human Resources Manager, 0201 (Supervisory)

I have been working at Federal Government full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Public service is a rewarding career, despite how things may be portrayed in the media at times. The Federal Government strives to be an exemplary employer--setting the standard for equal... opportunity, Veterans recruitment, retirement savings programs, healthcare and other benefits. I am honored to be a civil servant, and I work diligently to deliver HR services and programs my agency's employees---making our workers productive on behalf of the American people.

Cons

Government offices can be slower than the private sector to adopt the latest technology or best practices, because of fiscal law, contracting and other regulatory requirements.
