I worked at New York Department of Transportation full-time for more than a year

Pros

Super chill and laid back culture. With construction, there is always interesting stuff going on.

Cons

The benefits package got scrapped in 2008 and the pay for engineers is not great until they are licensed PEs.

Advice to Management

Pay entry level engineers more.
