Current Employee - Account Manager

I have been working at PIMCO full-time for more than 10 years

Pros

Work daily with some of the most talented people in the industry and surrounded by strong management and incredible thought leadership.

Cons

Travel can wear on you

Former Employee - Senior Associate

I worked at Dimensional Fund Advisors full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

The people at Dimensional are top notch - some of the most intelligent people I've ever worked with, and there isn't much in the way of egotistical or aggressive behavior, which makes for a great... working environment. Most people are approachable, regardless of level, and there isn't a huge emphasis on hierarchy, meaning it's not uncommon for an entry-level analyst to speak with a senior leader. Dimensional is refreshingly ethical and the firm genuinely cares about its clients. Every company will say they act in the interest of clients, but Dimensional truly operates in this way.

Cons

Workplace flexibility could be better. Unlike most of the industry, there isn't an expectation that employees work excessively long hours; however, the flexibility to manage when you come/go each day... is lacking. The firm has progressed in this space in recent years, but more improvement is needed.
