Current Employee - Software Engineer

I have been working at PageFreezer Software full-time

Pros

I enjoy a lot working for Pagefreezer and the company has excelled in avoiding corporate bureaucracy (and the attitude that tends to stem from that). All teams seems to be clearly in tune and the... atmosphere couldn't be better. Management is always listening and the company has a flat-hierarchy culture for the most part. The product offers several challenges of its own and if you feel bored, it's up to you to come up with something smart and/or exciting and spearhead its implementation. I'm actually impressed that the company keeps growing in number of employees yet it still manages to feel like a cozy place to be. Last but not least, this pervasive (and perverse) culture of working long hours all the time has no place in here.

Cons

Whatever there were of cons, management listened and improved it. Nothing is perfect, of course, but this iteration of listening-and-improving means you might quickly find yourself with nothing else... to say.

I have been working at CDK Global full-time for less than a year

Pros

The entire hiring and onboarding experience is so well organized. At no point did I ever feel like they were anything but happy to be talking to me. The training is great. Not only is there a... course for anything you could need, but every employee is more than willing to help, including managers. There's never been a feeling of being below or less than anyone else. Not something that I have ever been accustomed to in my entire working life. All in all, there is nothing that they haven't thought of and covered and made easily accessible. Communication is great. My manager has made sure that everyone in the team is aware of what is going on across the board. I know exactly where I stand and I feel valued. In my experience, this is a rarity in jobs. The benefits are excellent and you're eligible for them from the date of hire! No waiting 30-60-90 days to go to the doctor. If something happens and you need to be out sick you've got PTO so you're not losing part of your paycheck because of circumstances you can't control. I've never seen a company so well organized, so well run, and with genuine integrity. Far and away the best job I have ever had

The online training courses can be difficult to search, find, and navigate

Advice to Management

It would be great to give employees a free trip to a CDK office of their choice in another country or even region if they so choose. While that would be extremely fun, I am aware that this may be a... bit of a stretch. So, other than that just keep doing what you're doing because it's great to feel as valued as an employee as a client is valued by the company.
