Advice to Management
I have been working at Drift full-time for more than a year
Drift has been a great career choice for me. I’ve had the opportunity to try new things and actually ended up switching roles from being a software engineer to a solutions engineer, and through that... experience learned a bunch of new things and added a whole new career path for myself in the future. I can’t speak for the other teams at Drift, but the sales/solutions engineer team is a really incredible team to work with and I’ve made some real and lasting friendships so far. If you are technical but also have good social skills and want to feel your work to deliver a more immediate impact, then it may be something to check out.
No company is perfect and Drift is no different. Fortunately the pitfalls of the company pale in comparison to what I experienced at my previous companies, but they do exist. It’s a very... energetic and outgoing culture. If you are shy and quiet, you may feel overshadowed by people who are more vocal. If you are detail oriented and like to cross your Ts before delivering work, you may struggle when delivering in the second week with limited knowledge. You have to be the judge if you can operate in that type of environment. Personally I did struggle with some of these, but I’ve also grown a lot (although it was sometimes uncomfortable) by being here in this culture.
Advice to Management
There’s always more to improve, but I’ve been impressed with the action that’s been taken from the anonymous feedback and the workshops that have been run in different functions of the company.
