I worked at PetSmart full-time for more than 3 years
Great team, pays well (yearly self assessment given- usually increase in wages too), fun environment, self rewarding & room for advancement within the company, great company culture, 401K &... some benefits for full time employees.
rude customers from time to time (to be expected at any job), not for the faint of heart, physically demanding, time management skills are a MUST (not really a con but are for those who get nervous... when things move too fast)
Advice to Management
I have no complaints against any of my upper management and salon managers during my employment with Petsmart. Although, I will admit that my direct boss (during the last six months of my employment)... in the salon was underqualified for his position and although upper management knew, there wasn't much done to fix the issue until after I quit my position. Had something been done sooner (after several complaints from several colleagues & myself for a span of six months) then I may not have left. Although I do understand that there is only so much that could be done, I was still glad that I had the opportunity to speak to my boss and express these issues. It would have been easier if he at least knew how to groom pets, or if he at least knew how to be a manager. Unfortunatley he was not experienced in either of these qualifications and we lost customers and employees during his employment, including myself.
