I have been working at Aware Senior Care full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Home Care involves a lot of logistics and details, but the staff is incredibly proactive. Even in severe weather, there's always a sense of "all hands on deck." They don't do "next person in" like a... lot of companies in this industry. There's a big emphasis on matching clients with not only the right caregiver, but the right backup caregivers whenever the original is unable to make a shift. I think that's why they have one of the best turnover ratios in the industry: They go out of their way to be personal and that includes the clients, the staff, and most importantly, the caregiver. The company is small, but quickly growing through awards, recognition, and reputation. Growth is slow, but that's mainly due to the refusal to cut corners in pay (one of the highest starting rates for home care companies in the state) or care.

Cons

The management is demanding and there's a definitely certain personality traits they value higher than others. This is not a "Sit back and waste time" kind of a job. The recruiters, schedulers, and... admin staff work very hard and they need to not only know their role down pat, but how other roles function as well (since it's a small team) in case of absences and/or emergencies. You need to know your stuff and buy-in, or don't bother. Tim and Gina, the owners, will know immediately in both cases and will bring it up. The plus side of that is hard work gets recognized and generously rewarded. Bonuses, PTO, good health insurance, healthy snacks in the office, a nice coffee maker and a Vitamix. The office is an old dentist's office, so it's kinda cramped, but they're looking to expand their space in the next year.

Advice to Management

Continue to focus on the people and quality of care. Don't cut costs or corners in an effort to expand or franchise.
