Current Employee - Studio Software Engineer

I have been working at Raven Software full-time for more than 10 years

Pros

Teams feel like a family, still can have a small studio feel even on big projects. Everyone talks to everyone, no harsh divisions between departments or management and teams. Tons of talented,... creative people passionate about their work. Emphasis on work/life balance. Extremely low turnover. Some people have been here over 20 years. Someplace you can have a full career. Some excellent people in upper management.

Cons

Because of low turnover, this is not someplace you try to climb your way to the top at. Communication and transparency sometimes isn’t the best. Activision needs to trust Raven to lead more... projects. Some very negative people can bring a team down.

Advice to Management

Work on communication and transparency. Watch out for negative people. Keep pushing Activision to give Raven a big project of their own.

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at NetherRealm full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

35 Hour weeks, great bonus package, slower paced than other studios, friendly, goal-focused co-workers. You can find drama if you're the kind of person that wants to find it but otherwise you can... just show up, do your work, and head home.

Cons

Their HR is afraid to fire low performers, so they are carrying a lot of dead weight. People who haven't worked anywhere else think they are doing "crunch" if they work 45 hours...

Advice to Management

Have the tough conversations, or get someone from WB to do it for you.
