I worked at Statistics Canada part-time

Pros

- You choose your hours - You're responsible for yourself

Cons

- You work when people are home, which means evenings and weekends - Can face difficult residents who oppose doing the census

I worked at National Research Council Canada for more than a year

Pros

Easy going government job. All employees are really friendly including the group leader. Had a family like environment at work

Cons

Not much work to be done. Will get boring soon due to lack of work. But maybe that is for students only.
