Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at Sun Healthcare full-time

Pros

Excellent environment and management. Meaningful work.

Cons

No raises or 401k matching

Current Employee - Associate Account Manager II

I have been working at Kaiser Permanente full-time

Pros

PTO Employee Discounts Respectable lower management Team of AMs and AAMs are fantastic Resources to help you succeed Pays for all onboarding tasks like insurance license, exam, DOJ fees, etc.

Cons

Upper Management wants to compete with the larger carriers but renewal rates increase more often than not which can affect commission and bonuses. Learning curve for new employees is tough.... expectation is about 1 year to be good. If your book underperforms, by no fault of your own, target incentive will be several percent lower. Systems are outdated making your job harder and you can experience frustration internally when Underwriting or CSC/CSU make you wait which makes the broker/group wait.

Advice to Management

Your front line managers get things done. Senior managers make things things are done right. When those two things are at odds, it creates dysfunction for everyone under them. You can be tough but be... fair too.
