Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at Tudor Investment Corporation full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Tudor has a lot of great people and a great place to work.

Cons

There can be longer hours at certain times of the year, but the benefits definitely outweigh the cons.

Current Contractor - Software Engineer - Front End

I have been working at Point72 for less than a year

Pros

As a Software Engineer/Web Developer, working here has been like no other role have worked in the past. I've been at grass-roots startups, dot com boomers, niche industry leaders, corporate backed... startups, crypto companies, and creative agencies and this has by-far been the most enjoyable experience. If bubbly, quirky, googliness and blue jeans is what you seek, you may not enjoy this. But if you're drawn to hard work for competitive compensation and can adapt to the level of professionalism this environment requires, you're going to love it! For me, this has been a boot camp for professionalism. Hedge fund culture can teach you a lot about leadership, individual contributor-ship, and personal responsibility. You won't be explicitly taught these things, but if you are a self-critical individual, the mirror management will hold up to you will teach you a lot about yourself and can be a great asset in your own personal development/career. Within the technology team, you get the chance to work with extremely senior and knowledgeable engineers who are experts in UI and application development.

Cons

Along with the entire financial services industry, this is not a very diverse environment but I do believe that there are compassionate and politically motivated individuals in hiring positions... within the academy and technology departments looking to create a more equal and equitable workplace as well as individuals who care about making the culture socially hospitable and affirming for all different types of people. Small side note, the lunch options around Hudson Yards are abysmal

Advice to Management

Fooda caters twice a week but many people would be interested in Fooda being here every day.
