Current Employee - Agriculture Specialist

I have been working at US Customs and Border Protection full-time for more than a year

Pros

-Full health benefits at both low and high costs -Competitive Pay -Opens doors to further federal employment -Guaranteed raises each year on federal pay scale -Union availability

Cons

-Unclear what hours you will be working pre-hire. -Extremely long hiring process, expecting a split-second decision when accepting a position which could be cross-country. -All shifts and positions... are seniority based, and you are starting at the bottom with a boat-load of people above you who have been waiting years to get the position and location they want. Don't accept a location you aren't willing to stay at for more than a few years before you ever get to go back home.
