Current Employee - Flight Attendant

I have been working at United Airlines full-time for less than a year

Pros

As a new hire, all the other flight attendants are so helpful. Every trip you learn something new. On reserve is not as bad as people make it out. You have the opportunity the day before you go on... reserve to preference for the trips you would like. You don’t always get them, but 75% time I get something I chose. The pilots are great. They will back you up 100% if you have a rowdy passenger. Overall, I feel very supported and enjoy meeting the passengers and visiting so many new places!

Cons

Being away from home so much is hard, but as far as the company, they seem to have problems with long hold times when you have to call for help. And catering the plane 100% does not happen often.... It’s no fun telling passengers we don’t have what they pre-ordered.

Advice to Management

Hire more crew schedulers to handle the calls from your increasing number of flight attendants and get catering to cater 100%. It’s the Flight attendants who have to tell passengers we don’t have... lots of things we should have to serve them.

Former Employee - Director of Security

I worked at Hyatt full-time for more than 10 years

Pros

Great employee culture and engagement programs. Ability to network nationwide and gather much knowledge and guidance. Travel possibilities for work efforts as well as benefits for personal travel.... Fully an "all hands on deck" environment when any one department needs support.

Cons

Hotel operations as well as security operations are 24x7. Its a delicate balance to accommodate hotel and client needs and still respect personal/family time for staff and self.

Advice to Management

Listen. Learn. Always be ready to be "a helper" at new properties. Networking is important, but the knowledge gained from working in different cities, different properties, and different labor... conditions is invaluable.
