Featured Review

Current Intern - Process Engineering Intern

I have been working at Valero Energy for less than a year

Pros

The pay is great, they develop your skills as an engineer and as a person, the mentorship program is awesome, and the projects they give you are meaningful.

Cons

The final presentation takes a lot of preparation. This is a given for an internship, but it is an additional project on its own.

Advice to Management

Process management was great, extremely nice and focused people.

Current Employee - Tax Accountant

I have been working at NuStar Energy full-time

Pros

Great benefits - NuStar pays for health-care premiums for you and your family Hours are almost always 40 a week. The exception is for spring busy season when they peak around 60 for a couple weeks.... Tax Department is family oriented. Management provides significant flexibility for doctors appointments, WFH with sick kids, and taking time off.

Cons

Compensation is weighted heavily towards benefits, primarily health insurance. If you are single, or your spouse has great benefits, you may find the salary on the lower end. Advancement is limited... because it is a small department and everyone loves their job.
