What Employees Say
I worked at Wacker Chemie for less than a year
I was hired as a chemist intern with a very specific goal that broadened exponentially the more I got into my research. I was mostly left to myself but I never felt alone, I always had resources at... my disposal; whether it be contacts within the company, chemicals supplied, technology or instruments I needed. I felt like what I was doing was being taken seriously by the higher ups and was always included in project groups. I was given my own office space in a shared trailer as well.
The long hours and repetitive testing seemed very monotonous, albeit important to a production facility.
Advice to Management
The only thing that I really needed was better training with the company intranet, although that would have most likely been included with actual employment and not just an internship.
I worked at Donau Chemie full-time for more than a year
- as all smaller companies lots of upside potential - easy to switch business units to boost career potential - business units across all chemistry segments (industrial goods, consumer goods) -... large exposure to CEE - started traineeships last year for the first time, a good start to get top talent
- family owned: key positions therefore handed over to relatives, family friends - conservative planning - little aspiration to upgrade IS Systems - little to no people systems - company culture... could be better - battles with change management processes as company grows through M&A
