What is health insurance like at 24 Hour Fitness?
Pros
Flexible schedule and easy hire. If you are young, inexperienced, in school, have no real bills, then this is a nice stepping stone for you to move up in the company (for this particular position).
Cons
- Abusive pay structure - Abusive use of team members' job duties; sales advisors also must do team cleans around the gym. - Laughable pay structure $7.25 per hr plus 80% of the monthly payment amount... BUT you must SUBTRACT $9 per hr BEFORE commission is allowed. Long story short... your paycheck will be MAYBE $500-$700 for 30 hour work weeks... IF YOU WORK THE DAY SHIFTS. Night shifts are better; maybe $200+ more. - everyone is typically part time so the company doesn't have to pay for health insurance and such.
Advice to Management
Remove the ''threshold''. Paying employees $7.25 per hour but holding them to a $9 per threshold is ABUSIVE to say the least. If you you work the day shifts, you are essentially a glorified minimun wage earner. Please be honest with new hires about how much the average sales associate makes in EACH SEPERATE shift times. Most customers are coming in AFTER work to sign up for a gym membership. Be honest about this fact during hiring phase.

Revolving leadership that only cares about the bottom line; clicky company culture where certain personalilties and 'friends' get promoted
Advice to Management
Invest in long-term growth and career opportunities for both corporate and field employees. Stop promoting toxic managers who only play politics and are not good at managing teams.

What is the retirement plan like at 24 Hour Fitness?
Pros
-Learned how to sell effectively. As a general manager you will wear multiple hats meaning you are HR, LP, operations, sales, facilities, member experience, p & l operator. -Work life balance (generaly mon thru Friday 10am to 7pm' occasional Saturday for training day events) -Great team, members and peers -Free membership and discounted personal training
Cons
-Huge emphasis on hitting your budgets everyday both for fitness and memberships. -Difficult to bonus if guest traffic is down or location demographic is unfavorable. -Many budget constraints to support fixing facility. -Company filed for bankruptcy, not optimistic on the future of 24 hour fitness. -Benefits are not competitive. 401k package is disappointing
Advice to Management
I believe that the position of 24 hour fitness is the result a bad business practices, not from just prior years, but even today. For example, the covid-19 pandemic should have created a sense of urgency to become financially accountable when handling monthly dues with our members. As a result, we have intercepted yet another class action lawsuit. We need to remove the we don't do refunds culture, and start making it right for our members. We need to restructure the way we do business and identify a method of simplification to make coming to 24 hour fitness easy and fun. EVO did not accomplish this. Contracts and fine print are never favorable and will not help us to stay competitive with other gyms. Removing commission was a mistake, glad to see commission is coming back.
