What is health insurance like at Altru Health?
Pros
Selfless, hardworking coworkers and competitive compensation.
Cons
Unsafe staffing ratios. Upper management is overbearing and uninterested in hearing input from bedside staff. No raises or bonuses due to hospital losing money. They allow physicians to verbally abuse nursing staff. Structurally, the hospital is (literally) falling apart. Hospital staff have to park far away (20 minute walk) while administration gets to park right next to the hospital. The cafeteria closes at 7pm. The health insurance through Altru is a joke.
Advice to Management
Listen to your staff. They understand what works best at the bedside, you don't.

What is the retirement plan like at Altru Health?
Pros
Great people-staff and physicians are excellent providers. Community based hospital. State of the art equipment. New hospital in construction phase.
Cons
Retirement match is very low (3%). Leadership focus is on finances instead of patient care and employees. Staff moral is very low with a high of turnover. Currently, locum nurses and physicians are supporting deficiencies in staffing.
Advice to Management
Listen to your staff instead of relying so heavily of consultants. Just take the time to listen.

What is paid time off like at Altru Health?
Pros
We have received 2 cost of living raises in the last year.
Cons
We have to use our own personal PTO for holiday pay. If you do not have any PTO built up, you do not get any holiday pay; therefore, the day off for the holiday is just a day off without pay.
Advice to Management
Remove the policy where you have to use your own personal PTO (that you have worked very diligently to save the hours for a vacation) to cover for a holiday.
We have to use our own personal PTO for holiday pay.
