What are perks and other benefits like at Blackhawk Network?

Pros

- The people! - The benefits - The flexibility For the last two years I have worked with the nicest people. Everyone has a common goal and no-one has a hidden agenda. Having transitioned between departments during the two years (therefore working with multiple teams), it's clear that we put a high price on personality and culture fit when we are recruiting. As a result it's made Blackhawk Network a genuinely lovely place to work. The benefits we receive are fantastic - I am particularly grateful for the additional 'wedding leave' days I have received this year, in addition to a generous holiday allowance. The other perks I have taken advantage of are Techscheme and private health care. The approach to flexible working is great. Role dependent, we are able to work in a way that fits us, including working from home and discretion around personal appointments.

Cons

The parking situation for the Apsley office is tricky, but manageable if you're organised...

Advice to Management

Keep sharing plans and being open. Since you started doing this, I think the employee confidence and morale has grown ten fold.

The other perks I have taken advantage of are Techscheme and private health care.

What is the retirement plan like at Blackhawk Network?

Pros

There was unlimited PTO and good if not pricey health insurance. There are really good people who still work there.

Cons

Upper management only focused on M&A, sales, lowering costs. BH is owned by private equity. There is little to no bonus outside of sales functions. There is no employee equity program and a weak 401k match. There is a large focus on shifting engineering from US based engineers to India and other low cost centers. Absolutely no clear communication or direction on company strategy, except that BH will continue to acquire more companies. There was so much squandered potential.

There is no employee equity program and a weak 401k match.
