Does Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma & Texas | HCSC offer a wellness program?

Pros

HCSC takes a lot of time and effort to make sure everyone is trained well and prepared for their job role. They promote health and wellness extensively. Support systems are vast for any need / issue one may encounter. They want to promote from within and advance you to other roles within the company. Also, working from home is an option as long as you can prove to be reliable.

Cons

The only policy I question is their "unapproved PTO", not the policy as a wole but one portion of it. They keep track of any time you are late to clock in, back from breaks / lunches and tally it up to 40hrs in a year before action is take which is generous. However, if you do not have any accrued PTO, request a day off and it is approved by management they still tally it and hold it against you within that same 40hr bucket.

Advice to Management

Kepp up the great positive work atmosphere. Look into revising the PTO policy.

They promote health and wellness extensively.

Does Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma & Texas | HCSC have any sort of mentoring program?

Pros

There were a lot of professional development activities, including skills workshops and talks by executives in the company. I learned a lot about the company and industry this way. There were also many resources for learning more about various topics and keeping up on the current news in the healthcare industry. The team I worked on was prepared by having my projects ready for me to start on right away and was very welcoming and pleasant to work with. I also really enjoyed the mentorship program, as my mentor became a friend who I am still in contact with.

Cons

Although I had a great experience at HCSC, internship experiences varied greatly based on the team. It also varied in terms of which teams extended full-time offers at the end of the summer. Another thing to keep in mind is most of the interns are undergrads, so as a graduate student it can feel a little bit isolating socially. Compensation was average to perhaps a little bit below average and didn't include any perks beyond an hourly rate.

I also really enjoyed the mentorship program, as my mentor became a friend who I am still in contact with.
