Does Boston Medical Center offer relocation assistance?

Pros

Very positive work environment, great direct management of the Interpreters department, well-run. They value your contribution and allow you to work at a self-regulated fast pace, so you're always busy but without feeling anyone breathing down your neck. Love the current setup. Great benefits package.

Cons

The neighborhood. I like BMC, once I'm there, but I hate the areas I need to walk through coming and going. Did I mention I hate the neighborhood???

Advice to Management

Lobby for a stronger police presence in the neighborhood and to get all the hobos out of the immediate vicinity.

Great benefits package.

Does Boston Medical Center offer dental insurance?

Pros

- Very diverse and inclusive faculty and staff - Positive work environment - Strong values - Friendly co-workers who are eager to help you learn - The organization is driven to research and improve cultural competency - Health and dental benefits are very hard to beat especially if you are single - Vacation time rolls sick time and organization-wide holidays into one PTO system - Accessibility to join research as participants

Cons

- Not very much opportunity for growth - Promotions are few and far in-between - Pay raises and bonuses are pretty small for those below upper and middle management - A clear power hierarchy between administration, doctors, nurses, and support staff - There's a lot of research and data on inequality/cultural competency but it seems as though that's where it stops. Very hard to see what the action steps are in the organization to better the lives of those below middle management

Does Boston Medical Center offer life insurance?

Pros

-Peers are wonderful -Some perks (discounted T Pass) -Great insurance

Cons

- Management has no clue what is going on with projects and front line workers - Rampant scapegoating for new employees for structural issues -Performance based (very biased) pay increases -No care or structure in space for processing on the job trauma -I got written up for my cat dying-- was told I should have sat in the ER vet parking lot w/my laptop to work during the ordeal.

Advice to Management

Be a better bridge between physicians running their research and the people actually carrying out the research. PIs have no idea what goes on in a study day to day. RAs are expected to overwork themselves with little to no praise or celebration of accomplishment. Leaders forget that real human beings are working here, not machines.

Great insurance
