What is paid time off like at Bridgestone Americas?

Pros

Awesome pay structure, especially as you climb the ladder. Lots of teammate perks, including employee discount, full and excellent benefits, PTO, and technically a flexible schedule. As long as upper management isn't on your back, the atmosphere is what you make it in the store.

Cons

Too much pressure on management. Significant gap between corporate dream and field reality. No sense of "self" and care of the person, it's just a numbers game. Too many things for one person to manage (even upper management, in mentoring, offers that it's too much for one person and you just have to get used to the idea that you're always behind somewhere). Expected to be on call during all business hours, even on vacation, even if you have someone else who was appointed to run your store or area in the meantime. Upper management has an "open door policy" but not really; if you contact anyone outside of your direct supervisor you either get no answer or get slapped on the hand for reaching out. Store managers are expected to work a minimum of 55 hours per week.

Advice to Management

Treat your people like people, not machines, and not numbers. They only stick around because of the pay. Do a better job at bridging the gap between what corporate sees and what the field is really like.

Lots of teammate perks, including employee discount, full and excellent benefits, PTO, and technically a flexible schedule.

Does Bridgestone Americas offer relocation assistance?

Pros

Bridgestone offers a competitive salary as well as a generous benefits package. There is also a sign on bonuses for select positions. Bridgestone is a diverse and inclusive company with tuition reimbursement for select employees as well as mentoring and training.

Cons

While Bridgestone Americas is a great company overall, diversity and inclusion at the retail level is hit or miss. The technicians are overworked at times and interpersonal communication can be a weakness for those who are exclusively in the shop area.

Advice to Management

I love the management team at Bridgestone! If I could give any piece of advice it would be to not only train employees to do their job well but also include a training program to equip them to communicate effectively with the customer and character building exercises. Tonality, the history of the company, the specifics of job duties, schedules etc. can all be learned pretty easily. Character is very difficult to teach.

Bridgestone offers a competitive salary as well as a generous benefits package.

Does Bridgestone Americas have a pension plan?

Pros

Lots of opportunities to move around and work in different areas. Insurance and 401k is comparable to other companies. Some jobs are working from home part or most of the time. Pretty good work life balance.

Cons

Slowly eliminating entitlements for people at the company for many years. Retirement health insurance after 30 years is going away. Alternate work schedules going away. No personal or sick days. No pension. Vacation is now used for sick leave or illness in family.

Advice to Management

To retain experience help, people are looking to get more entitlements to stay. There is a lot of competition in the area and there is no insentive to stay with the company long term. Reduction of premiums for length of service, personal days, sick days, retirement insurance offerings,

No pension.
