What are perks and other benefits like at Carousel Industries?

Pros

Not going to pretend like every day was rainbow and sun shine because it wasn’t. You have to work hard to get recognized and there was one manager in particular I didn’t see eye to eye with. Still, hard workers get the recognition they deserve, the benefits were excellent, and the opportunity to develop on a professional level is guaranteed. The more I gave, the more I got back and when I felt it was the right time I moved on to bigger and better things.

Cons

Communication from management could have been much stronger. I’m not sure how it is at the moment now that I’m no longer with the company.

Advice to Management

As mentioned, if you haven’t done it already improve how you communicate with your staff.

Still, hard workers get the recognition they deserve, the benefits were excellent, and the opportunity to develop on a professional level is guaranteed.

What is health insurance like at Carousel Industries?

Pros

Good work/life balance. Good teamwork. Encourages knowledge growth with lots of internal webinars on internal processes, manufacturer updates, etc. Great "onboarding"

Cons

Medical insurance is expensive compared to other companies of this size.

Advice to Management

Need to move away from so many processes done via Excel spreadsheets. Needs an online pricing, labor, and quoting tool.

Does Carousel Industries offer health savings accounts?

Pros

I personally love working here. It’s a great company that deserves a lot more credit than it’s been getting lately. Management aren’t perfect, but I’ll be damned if they don’t try their hardest. And everyone in the office is beyond friendly. I’m getting paid what I’m worth, and the company offers health insurance plans I can actually afford.

Cons

Like I said in the title of this review, the only downside right now is that we’re a little short staffed so the workload is higher than usual.

Advice to Management

Let’s get some more people hired on so things can go back to normal!

Does Carousel Industries offer unlimited time off?

Pros

Some legitimately good people I worked with. The front-line guys kept the place going, in spite of the management/owners best efforts, so there was a sense of comradery in that. Fairly easy-going in terms of time off, tardiness, dress code, etc. but that could vary a LOT depending on the manager. Some managers understood the situation and tried, giving out little bonuses and perks where they could. The owners did do some really nice things for staff: summer cookout-lunches, big Xmas party, and an end-of-summer bash for families, but those things were being scaled way back or cancelled entirely toward the end of my time there.

Cons

Aggressively "top down." "All Hands" calls were held during the lunch period, so there goes your break. Company was essentially run by the Sales department, so god help anyone who got in the way, regardless of company policy. Promises of training in my department resulted in very little. There were a few, but they were rarely repeated, so typically only the "pets" received them. I know NOC and Sales personnel received quite a bit more. Company only ever offered the smallest COLA each year, which wasn't even guaranteed - and they didn't do raises unless you were promoted. They had a reputation: get in, get trained, move on to another job which would inevitably pay more.

What is the retirement plan like at Carousel Industries?

Pros

This is exactly where I see myself retiring from in 30 years. I’ve worked at several companies before this, so trust me when I say that Carousel is hands-down the best in every category.

Cons

Really the only con I can think of is their benefits package. The healthcare is expensive and they only offer a very low 401k match. I think they can do better, and I know once it’s brought to management’s attention, they will.
