What is health insurance like at Chihuly Garden and Glass?

Pros

Health insurance is generous Gift cards and holiday bonuses Staff in most departments are nice, often artistic

Cons

Management is a huge problem here from the top down. Micro-managing supervisors love to snitch on other departments and employees. Supervisors lie to associates and guests. Payroll and hr had commincation issues and “forgot” to pay holidays until reminded. Health insurance paperwork was completely lost in several cases. Upper management is sometimes aloof, sometimes absent, there were even cases of phyisical slapping of employees with no investigation. Sexual harrassment is a big problem-sometimes with upwards of 5 complaints about a person with no apparent punishment. Entire departments have been known to turn over in under a year. They are known to terminate workers after 90 days to avoid paying benefits. Will fire people for their “professional look” (aka weight/attractiveness). Lack of proper bathrooms and breakrooms despite being in seattle center. Guests are tourists so sometimes rude. I had high hopes when I started here-they do tend to hire a lot of artists and art students and the building is cool-but like to many I was dissappointed.

Advice to Management

Promote from within, give everyone a raise, start entry level higher than min. wage, remove the top management, do not share managers with the space needle, listen to sexual/physical harrassment claims. Appreciate staff more!

How are career development opportunities at Chihuly Garden and Glass?

Pros

If you aren't seasonal the health benefits are great and on occasion they've also given employees some unexpected profit sharing benefits. Being around artwork is also always a plus.

Cons

There's no opportunity for growth. They tend to employee people who are highly over-qualified for the position they are in, but do not pay them as such. Most, if not all positions at the exhibition function with the expectation that you won't stay for too long. The business model is built on a high turnover rate.

There's no opportunity for growth.
