What is paid time off like at Cision?

Pros

Good PTO, Some managers are very genuine and care for your day to day life

Cons

After 4 years working at Cision, it was more than time to leave. The private equity firm, Platinum equity, that took over in 2020 has done what all PE firms do eventually, require staff to do more with less. The platform itself is a cobbled together mess from acquisitions, former products, and bandaid fixes. AE’s are expected to upsell to existing clients on a system that is not functional or living up to the promises of service. The support team is overworked, understaffed and backlogged for client support, so that becomes another function of the AE role. It wasn’t until October of 2021 that the AE team received their comp plans, and then they were changed again in November 2021 - the organization arbitrarily decided that employees who had been promoted in the last 18 months (since the previous comp plan was released) had been over paid, and withheld commission until they arbitrarily were broken even. This was to the tune in some cases to 8,000$ and the announcement was made after the payment was made with no recourse for employees but to be suddenly paid 1/3 what they were expecting. This continued through December of 2021, and again in Feb 2022 - the whole AE team was paid 90% OTE, regardless of whether they were on target or not. Resulting in under performing AE’s being overpaid, and those above performance, being underpaid thousands of dollars. The newly rolled out comp plan for 2022 is incomprehensible, with astronomical targets. Essentially giving everyone on the AE team a 20-30K a year pay cut. Previously, there was ample opportunity to overcome the below average Cision base salary, but that is no longer the case. The insurance plan was switched to a far lesser offering, and the HR team is also deeply understaffed to support the company. The team of people working at cision are exceptional and kind, that was the largest barrier to leaving. But having wages withheld or adjusted to the tune of nearly 18,000$ in four months, it is impossible to justify staying. The AE team has nearly weekly turn over, and the management team does what they can with nearly no resources to support them. CIsion is also in a class action lawsuit for underpaying staff. This used to be a fantastic place to work, but that is no longer the case.

Does Cision offer massages?

Pros

Working there was fun with good on-site benefits, a gym, free coffee, and candy. There is occasionally free food and a relaxed dress code.

Cons

A lot of transition and merging when I was there. I can feel it even as a part-time.

Does Cision offer relocation assistance?

Pros

The tools are really cool and useful for clients. Benefit package is strong, minus the salary.

Cons

Mergers and acquisitions have left cision a mess. Everyday, it’s a new half assed process that the sales team is expected to adjust to. If you want a job where they care more about your Salesforce activity than your success, Cision’s the spot for you!

Benefit package is strong, minus the salary.

Does Cision offer dental insurance?

Pros

The main pro to me is a benefits package which is good compared to many US employers- they offer medical, vision, dental, all kinds of pets insurances and childcare benefits... In my experience, too, the vast majority of people are ambitious, professional, and willing to help, but depends entirely on what team/business unit you're with (more on that below)

Cons

There is absolutely no sense of everyone at Cision being part of the same company. Historically, everyone has operated in silos. New management is trying to change that, but that sort of cultural change takes years. Don't expect to get to know many people outside your immediate team and office for now. Because of this rift between Cision's divisions, employees continue to communicate inefficiently and spend time and energy saving their work in 5 different places and hunting down things that should be available more easily.

they offer medical, vision, dental, all kinds of pets insurances and childcare benefits...

Representation matters. Take a look at Cision’s first-ever DEI Report to see the results—so far—of our focus on representation (spoiler alert: we have gender parity at all levels of the organization).
