What is the company culture at Covance?

Pros

Some great people, does have a lot of access to intelligence data from LabCorp

Cons

Since the integration and new CEO, the company is more about profit and increasing numbers to be the largest CRO than anything else. The processes are cumbersome, too many layers, a very siloed and 'blame' culture, benefits are decreasing, no respect for staff or their rights, etc. Trusted and loyal employees have been more or less abused and bullied into either stress leave or resignation. The worse company I have worked for in 20 years.

Advice to Management

CROs are about selling people, you should try and focus on your staff - happy workers mean a happy company.

What is the hiring process like at Covance?

Pros

The hiring process and onboarding process worked really well considering this is brought about by Covid-19 and not the normal route. People are friendly and helpful and lots of information and resources on the intranet. Salary and benefits are very good. People development and opportunities seem great but I'm too new to have experienced this yet.

Cons

Its a big complex organization hard to figure out where things sit and not much onboarding material on the organizational & business structure.

Advice to Management

Some basics need addressing to help in particular remote working : Staff directory / O365 - its great the organizational relationships seem to be kept up to date. But, hardly anyone has a profile picture, mostly its just a name and job title. Too often the title is different in different places and written in acronyms. It would be great if everyone was asked to add a picture and write a short description of what they do and for which part of the business they do it in.
