What is the retirement plan like at Daimler Trucks North America?

Pros

Lifestyle, location, facilities, support for moving positions, company focus on employees

Cons

Compensation is largely based on current salary when moving jobs, HR will not engage in conversations about compensation, compensation is not competitive for non-engineering jobs that require technical skills (computer science, business intelligence, quantitative analysis). 401K match and insurance costs are nice benefits but HR pitches them as better than they are compared to other companies. Not getting paid a competitive wage eliminates be benefits of an otherwise positive workplace.

Advice to Management

Your employees are smart people and know what their roles are worth. If you want employees around, pay them. Basing salary largely on previous salary is not a good way of keeping employees or having an engaged workforce. If you want to be a leader in technology fields you have to compensate employees who will get you there.
