What is paid time off like at Danaher?

Pros

Competitive salary and benefits, sincere desire for and openness too improvements of all kinds, whether it's systems, processes, or solutions. Great place to grow if you are motivated and willing to exert effort. Company owns a lot of other operating companies, so room to move to those organizations as opportunities occur. There is a lot of promotion and movement within. There are some incredibly smart, interesting and kind people working here. I've found it easy to build rapport. Job security is good, but you must be prepared for changes to staff around you - it can sometimes feel like someone is always leaving/arriving. Like the new CEO so far. Lots of progress has been made on Diversity and Inclusion and plans for more.

Cons

Some people feel overworked, so for some life/work balance could be an issue. There is use of contractors, and those folks get paid less and have significantly less in terms of benefits, time off, etc. Headcount is kept tight, so it can be hard to convert unless 1. your boss fights for you and 2. they have justification to add a headcount. Not a con, but like every organization, your boss matters a lot in terms of your experience. Make sure you communicate early on working style and make sure it's a good match for your career and personality.

Advice to Management

Include more work balance conversations with leaders around the organization. Continue to push D&I so people will feel welcome and included. Try to improve offerings for contractors - yes, it's expensive but they are part of our success as an organization too. Please put some Black and brown people on the Board.

Does Danaher offer dental insurance?

Pros

Good communication in the company, with smart, strategic leaders. Lean (sometimes too lean), and opportunities to develop your skills and advance. Many are busy in their daily roles to take time to develop, and so this leads to very long work hours to make up for any time spent in development. DBS has great tools to learn and apply for all levels and businesses. Benefits are good overall but vary between operating companies, and corporate. Each has their own benefits. All employees of Danaher do not have the same benefits. Best thing: Danaher Corporate has comprehensive medical benefits with many plans choose from and multiple providers and healthcare networks. Includes reproductive benefits, optional pet insurance and extras. Everyone can find a suitable plan for their needs. Very good prescription coverage. Good dental and vision insurance.

Cons

Worst thing: Corporate Employees do not get any sick days. You are only covered if you need disability, otherwise you must use your PTO/ vacation time. You may work long hours, and at the end of the day, the data is what matters.

Advice to Management

Some managers are always pushing for more, faster, and better - mainly to please their leadership with the data, at the expense of the employees on the team executing. There needs to be recognition for when people can't do more - they are already stretched working 60+ hours a week, with limited tools, and to constantly push is draining and leads to turnover.

Good dental and vision insurance.

Does Danaher have an auto lease program?

Pros

Great benefits including company car, 401K and good health insurance. Good work life balance. Exceptional clinical apps team.

Cons

Defective products and Mammotome is switching parts out for cheaper products and it’s creating a TON of issues and ruining credibility with customers. Old products as well and the new products are me toos which are not making an impact. As a sales rep your always putting out fires. Be prepared to not make very much commission certain years (competitor have newer products) and it’s hard to recover some of these big loses.

Advice to Management

Stop going with cheap parts. Mammotome Upper Mgmt - when are you going to stand up to Danaher and tell them Mammotome should pay the extra money for quality parts????? it just makes customers mad when there are defective products and makes your sales rep and service team run in circles (just creating a bigger problem.) You can’t starve reps on commission either (most of upper management has not been a sales rep so they don’t get it .) you need to change the comp Plan. All the studies show compensation is usually number one or number two in employee happiness. Remember it costs money to train new employees, time to build a pipeline and turn over looks bad to customers. Also, the defective products are taking a cut from reps commissions and it’s not there fault there’s Bad product manufacturing. Be leaders and do the right thing for your employees.

Great benefits including company car, 401K and good health insurance.
