What are perks and other benefits like at DigiStream?

Pros

-Great for adventurous individuals or people that like to travel as you'll do a lot of travel around your location of hire -Good position for independent or autonomous people that work well alone -Company provides vehicles, equipment and door to door full time pay for the minute you leave home -An occasional presence of comrade between investigators over phone calls and texts in the field - Investigators see something new pretty much everyday in the field, things never seem too repetitious

Cons

Where to start? Digistream possesses a toxic work culture that stems from management and branches out into the field creating hostility between investigators and office staff. It’s the complete snowball effect and we’re all aware snowballs don’t slide UP a hill; they slide from the TOP DOWN. Management is responsible for this toxicity but they fail to take accountability for it due to their extreme stubborn denial. They attempt to establish a trustworthy perception among new hires but it only takes a few months to notice their true colors. Once employees become aware of their unethical tendencies they become a threat to management as they become fearful they'll run their mouths to other new hires. They PREY on naive recruits that will be willing to sacrifice their HEALTH, their SAFETY and their LIVES all for terrible pay and severe mistreatment. DON'T BE THAT PERSON UNLESS YOU DIRELY WANT A PI LICENSE. I mentioned 3 vital words above (HEALTH, SAFETY AND LIVES) in the previous sentence that deserve further detail. HEALTH - This line of work will require you to wake up at odd hours and operate on minimal sleep and function with no consistent sleep cycle. Sleep deprivation will result in a metabolism slow down and result in weight gain for those not blessed with crazy fast metabolisms. Don't even get me started on the abundance of sitting with the position. Some cases you may be stuck in the van for 5-8 hours NOT including drive time. That's right, you'll be sitting for 9-16 hours some days which of course can lead to weight gain too. You will NOT have access to a bathroom and management will REJECT your LABOR LAW PROTECTED bathroom requests to defecate. If the natural bowel movement process continues past nit-picky management’s liking, you will be pressured to use a bucket to go #2 in. Appreciate having your labor law rights yanked from you and enjoy inhaling feces fumes in a hot sweaty van for 7.5 hours. Last but not least, you of course don't have access to any microwave or stove and your cold food will spoil in the spring and summer so your diet will worsen. SAFETY - Digistream indirectly influences the need for extreme and illegal driving tactics from investigators for the benefit of THEIR own behalves and their beloved clients. They don't care about their employees, revenue and client retention comes first. Inexperienced and stat greedy managers will even push investigators to partake in unsafe practices on cases where subjects are aware of their presence. Instead of listening to investigators on not pushing it on a compromised case, they'll disregard any input and give outrageous advice sitting. I've seen new naive investigators run into plenty of DANGEROUS AND THREATENING situations from subjects with criminal backgrounds all because they listened to incompetent management directive. LIVES - Digistream will expect you to sacrifice YOUR LIFE for them. You will work weekends for years, your vacation requests will be blatantly ignored for weeks/months, YOU will be responsible for the horrendous employee turnover rate and pick up extra days when short staffed. I get this industry does bring some unique traits that will of course cut into your social life due to the nature of the job. My problem is DIGISTREAM does nothing to help compensate with the organic social life downfalls of the industry. Your sacrifice working weekends for years won't be noticed and you will continue to work weekends, your hard work will lead to ignored and rejected vacation requests and you will be the one that suffers when management isn't doing their job to establish a good work culture that leads to horrific employee retention. All of these aspects are areas DIGISTREAM is responsible for, NOT the nature of the work. The company preaches a "hard work will be rewarded" mentality when most of the higher-ups have had their positions handed out to them by being family friends or close acquaintances of the company owners. Management plays favorites and only reward “yes, men” and individuals with previous management experience. Any type of polite advice from field staff will be sensitively perceived as insubordination and will result in disciplinary action. An absolute “one way street” type culture and very reminiscent of a dictatorship. The worst part is most recommendations on how to improve field operations come from seasoned field veterans but are shot down from individuals with minimal field experience that had their positions handed to them or their paths up the corporate ladder carved out for them.

Advice to Management

Things will never improve at Digistream until there is a riddance of current management that has been frowned upon for years from all areas of the company. Why there has been no action is beyond me. Good businesses recognize BUSINESS comes before RELATIONSHIPS and that’s where Digistream falls short. Instead of removing the cancers from the hierarchy for the benefit of the company, a sense of guilt for making the right move of termination comes into play with company owners having a personal background with affiliate higher-ups. Rinse and repeat until the head honchos do their job and enforce needed change in the higher-up realm.

Does DigiStream offer tuition reimbursement?

Pros

They provide you with a vehicle, gas card, equipment, and plenty of overtime.

Cons

For starters, they pay you minimum wage for a ridiculous amount of dangerous work. My trainer encouraged me to break the law, such as :running red lights, driving way beyond the speed limit, passing double yellow lines, and tailgating . You will fail "training" if you don't break the law. I am surprised this company hasn't has a lawsuit against them yet. Despite being a surveillance investigator, you are a regular civilian. You are not above the law. This means you will have to pay your own tickets, and receive points on your license for what is considered minimum wage to most people. They hold themselves at a high "standard", yet the majority of their staff are unable to form proper sentences and write their own reports. Your supervisors are not educated and you will hate being taught by such fools. Digistream is the bottom of the barrel of the investigation industry. I now work for a much better company with better pay and hours. They prey on recent college graduates desperate for a job in the criminal justice field. DO NOT DO IT . During a stakeout, management will not let you leave for a lunch break or the bathroom, as if our claimants are high profile criminals. The company is full of weirdos who couldn't make it into law enforcement and it shows. They're bitter and odd individuals who seem to be social outcasts and have their own cliques within the company. There is no room for growth as it is such a small company and entry positions barely get raises. The job title sounds cool at first to friends and family but the reality of the job settles in very quickly. Your social life will be gone. Do not work this job if youre in school, have friends, or a girlfriend. You will not see your friends or family while working here. There is nobody to talk to while on the job as you drive and sit in your van all day long. Coming home very late, writing a report, and then waking up 5 hours later to drive 2 hours away to another house. You are a slave to them. Do not work here. You are worth more.

Does DigiStream have an auto lease program?

Pros

Company car, all equipment, gas and everything is paid for and provided. Haven't found another kind of job like this that is entry-level. There's alot of overtime as well so you make a decent amount just by driving around. good experience, especially if you want to get into law enforcement or fed work. Idk about the other branches, but the one in New England has good management and they're understanding since they started as investigators too.

Cons

The starting pay is really terrible; I'd recommend starting at $18/hr or more honestly. The learning curve is rough, but once you form a routine you're set. Hours are long and it's a lot of sitting around and waiting. When it's cold it's cold, and when it's hot it's hot. Not much more to it.

Advice to Management

If you're not going to up the starting pay, then Id give better raises.
