Pros

-Great benefits -Equity (although the stock price is unstable and they include equity in your salary). For example, they offer you 90k a year but 20k of that is in equity. At the time when they offer you that, the stock price is $100 stock so you get 200 shares to equal $20k. Then when it comes times for vesting, the stock price is now $50 and therefore, 200 shares turns into $10k and your salary for the year is actually 10k less than what they offered you. They know this happens and I have tried to negotiate for less stock and more salary and was denied. Although some of my peers were successful... which highlights one of the cons being, different treatment amongst employees

Cons

-No tuition reimbursement -management is all a clique (in order to be successful or promoted, you have to be close with someone in management) -Unequal pay -lack of diversity in leadership, most of senior leadership is white (Merchant Services Department) -leadership does not represent company values -different treatment amongst employees (a lot of favoritism happening) -leadership does not like to be challenged and if you do you are reprimanded

Cons

Poor leadership Lack of direction

Advice to Management

I understand doing what’s best for the business but why tell everyone that we are doing well as a company, acquire a new company and then lay off 1250 employees? Ironically, the ones laid off were from major cities so clearly they didn’t have the finances to keep us. But we all got our work done and had positive performance reviews. For the future, I’d say be honest. They knew MONTHS in advance that they would be letting people go. They made it seem like it was a spur of the moment decision. I say leadership is poor because it starts at the head… Director level and downard in specific major cities got laid off. So they were even blindsided. Being in recruiting I think they mass hired to show growth but literally could not handle it. There were countless extra bodies and not enough work to give. How they let go of their employees was against their vaues and solidified to me that you cant trust these companies and should always operate in YOUR best interest.

Pros

Great culture, pay, benefits, and intelligent co-workers. Great brand! Plenty of opportunities for internal mobility.

Cons

DoorDash has a lot of small organizations within the larger org that operate autonomously. It almost feels like there are many start-ups within a startup. Although employees are geared with ample tools/resources, the lack of direction can be overwhelming at times.

Pros

Pros: your schedule is almost completely flexible and you are paid immediately when you complete a "dash," as we insiders call it.

Cons

Cons: potholes, high gas prices, low ball offers, delivering food at night and the customer hasn't put on an outdoor light so you can see, say, house numbers, broken steps, and so on. But those things aren't the company's fault. My complaint against corporate is that they can be very mercenary regarding reimbursement and treating the drivers fairly. Case in point: I was picking up a few things at a Dollar General. One item was out of stock and I could not reach the customer to ask what she wanted as a substitute. So, I took a guess. When I got to the checkout the Red Card wouldn't work, so I paid for the order with my own money. The customer declined the substitute in favor of a different item, and then wanted more of them. So I drove four miles back to Family Dollar, returned the unwanted item and picked up several of the other items. Again, the Red Card did not work, so I again paid with my own money and delivered the items to the customer. I finished , I immediately contacted Door Dash to initiate reimbursement, but was told they would only pay for the second charge because that was all I had a receipt for. I had used the first receipt to return the unwanted item and the store stapled it to their paperwork. Mind you, the first woman I spoke with at Door Dash could see that I had delivered the order to the customer, and she could see that no money had come off the Red Card. So she knows I am telling the truth, but kept insisting I had to show the receipt. I was insisting they reimburse me the eleven dollars I was out. She kept refusing, finally sending me to her superior, who also refused to reimburse me. Isn't that crappy? They could see that I paid for the customer's order, but chose to stand on "policy" in order to drive down our already meager earnings. Not cool.

Advice to Management

They should block the ridiculously low "dashes." How are you going to expect some shlub to cart your taco ten miles through city traffic for $2? There should be a minimum of a dollar per mile at least. Especially with gas the way it is. It wouldn't hurt some of you to walk to someplace local and get your own food.
