Pros

Everybody enjoys working here and it shows in your day to day interactions with them. The winery definitely has the family feel and atmosphere. The benefits are great and the pay is more than fair not to mention there are so many amazing perks! Also, Leadership is not only accessible, but they encourage and recognize your ideas and contributions which makes you feel like you matter instead of being just another number.

Cons

I wish there were more flexible work schedules instead of the standard 8-5, but I do think that is more a departmental decision vs company wide.

Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing! I can't wait to see what the future brings!

Pros

Gallo is a relationship-based organization, and the family is not only highly involved in the business, but truly cares about its employees. Everyone who works at Gallo is not only intelligent and capable, but personable as they understand things get done through engaging with others. The company also has great benefits, both healthcare and 401k related, as well as additional perks like the Company Wine Shop, and an All the Best program. I've worked at Gallo for 7+ years and envision myself here in the future, as Senior Leadership cares about developing talent and future leaders. Open job postings allow for transparency and for the best candidate to get the role, and remove bias. Gallo encourages rotations across and within functions as well. I have always felt supported in my career.

Cons

Being family owned, the one opportunity is to take a less conservative approach to investments or opportunities. However, the company does invest heavily in growth Brands.

Pros

Pros of working for Gallo include; great benefits, paid time off, work environment, healthcare options and work perks. In Modesto, Gallo has a 'Health Center', where you can schedule general doctors appointments, and they will even pick up prescriptions for you. There's a lot of campus wide events that give you a fun break from work. There's a health initiative called Vitality, that even pays for your gym membership once you've logged enough workouts. You can also redeem your points within the program for gift cards. Gallo has corporate values that come through in almost every aspect of the business. They are Integrity, Innovation, Respect, Commitment, Teamwork and Humility. The majority of the employees are perfect examples of these values, and you see that on your first day on the job. As Gallo is such a large company with over 7000 employees worldwide, there are also a lot of different career paths you can choose to take. If you wish to go a completely different route and change your job, you can do so while still working for the same company which is pretty cool. If you ever have a supervisor/manager that you are happy with, don't leave that department!

Cons

It is extremely hard to be reprimanded or terminated at Gallo. This means you can be completely incompetent within your position, and unless your supervisor or manager has a hefty log with concrete proof of your inability to perform your job, you will stay happily in your position. From my personal experience, I have seen over and over again that the employees who pour their life into the job receive no credit, while others who barely perform get celebrated. There is little to no acknowledgement from upper management when your department is drowning in work and you'd need help, either with another position on your team or lessening the asks from others. Since my time with Gallo, I have been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. I had no previous problems with stress or anxiety before working here. I have had to wear a heart monitor, and visit the Emergency Room three times with chest pains, all due to the amount of stress brought on by my job. I have seen more severe health problems arise than my own, but those are not mine to tell. HR is also slow to respond or acknowledge any problem. Within my time at Gallo, I've seen people leave their role, or leave the company all together, and the information from their exit interview never leaves the conversation they have with HR. I've had a casual conversation with a member of the HR department who was unaware of a certain policy that is company wide, which was very frustrating. If you have a salaried position rather than hourly, be prepared to be on call 24/7. The work/life balance at Gallo can be completely flawed in some aspects. I've known employees to work a full day, go home, and continue working until midnight or later. Again, this is within my own personal experience within the same department, so I am unsure if this exists company wide.
