Pros

Edward Jones is working toward a human centered complete wealth management approach in the next few years. This will bring the company forward to serving its clients in unimagined ways. This is exciting work. The HR leadership is working on transforming HR to meet the needs of the business. Again, this is exciting work.

Cons

The firm's fast growth has maintained decision making at the top. They hire experienced people into roles but don't always allow them to do what they are capable of doing. There is a lack of accountability and clarity on what is expected. Decisions are very slow.

Advice to Management

Let the experienced people you hire help you. Empower them and give them clarity on their role. Don't say you want associates to bring their experience and perspectives but behave contrary to that.

Pros

Starter salary, good initial welcoming snd training in St Louis, paid licensing support and self study from home. Mostly autonomous.

Cons

Horrible support after initial training. Managed from input of daily activity so if you are busy and don’t stop for hours every day to input activities you get “those” calls from the home office. Don’t expect any help although everyone offers. No one is paid to help you so they will give advice on the phone when they have a break in schedule. Compensation stinks. The salary for so many, paid offices and such are so expensive and the industry so cut throat that it takes 10s of millions under management to make any decent paycheck.

Advice to Management

Having “mentors” be in an office to meet with for 5 weeks in their office is not training. The FA should work in groups with seasoned FAs for a time in the field and on appointments. The total autonomous routine is all good if someone has a large natural network but really stinks if you truly have to build it from scratch and need training wheels
