What is the company culture at Fathom?

Pros
- Team is very supportive and easy to get along with - Very fast growth, interesting problems, all employees hit the ground running - Compensation is pretty competitive for a Series B startup - Company is very understanding of work-life balance and knows when breaks are needed
Cons
- Expected working hours are 10am-7pm. When it's crunch-time, especially when a big deployment is coming, those hours can stretch further especially for engineering leads. It's not for everyone. - It's a culture of quick feedback and constructive criticism. If you make a mistake, you will be told what you did wrong, and you will be expected to fix it quickly. - Gender diversity is very lacking. That might be because we get mostly male applicants for engineering positions, but it's still something worth saying.
Advice to Management

Pros
Fathom is investing in the right people, the right systems, and the right processes for continued growth and success in the automated coding market. This includes longer tenure employees that serve as anchors, supports, and mentors in various elements of the business, as well as talented new players that have brought fresh perspectives across business segments. Fathom does a good job of listening to new ideas and adopting better processes when applicable. The executive team is committed to providing real value to our clients, and the company culture supports this focus. Whether it is being straight about capability, or evaluating resources for the best possible outcomes, Fathom's leadership team is continually pushing to be better. I have enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about this stage in a start-up's lifecycle, and see many exciting things on the horizon for both the company/employees and our clients. One key challenge is evaluating and onboarding the right kind of talent across the enterprise, and so far it feels like Fathom is attracting and hiring the best and brightest in each sector. I have been involved in some of the interview processes, and have been grateful to meet and interact with many bright stars across various industry segments - whether we hired them or not.
Cons
Fathom is a late stage startup, pushing hard into post Series B ramp activities. This can be hectic, and everyone involved in that part of the process is busy and pushing hard. This can certainly impact timelines for support and response internally, which sometimes impacts the velocity of client acquisition. As we have grown, I have seen this pressure slowly shift, and feel confident that the team will continue pushing through these bandwidth challenges and keep growing. There are silos, as one would expect from a tech company - so the engineering team and the commercial team are rarely interacting directly (outside of company sponsored social events), so it can be challenging to know what everyone does or is doing from my level. Working for Fathom is a commitment. Fast paced and committed to aggressive growth. This is not a company for dabblers or slackers.

Pros
- Fathom is the industry leader for autonomous coding, which is a growing segment in the health tech market - Great team & culture - High level of individual autonomy - Fathom has the best swag for customers and fun events
Cons
I personally don’t see these as cons but some things to consider are: - Fathom is a relatively small company and growing quickly, there’s much less structure than at a large company - Fully remote workforce means limited face-to-face interaction with colleagues. There are some regional offices that help with this for people who like working around others
Advice to Management
Hire faster! We need more resources in Customer Success and engineering to support our growth. That said, we place a high priority on finding the right fit for new hires so that can slow down our pace for filling open roles.

Pros
Better than being jobless, but try to find better option if given the opportunity
Cons
Fathom Health has a toxic work environment that discourages employees that advocate for themselves. They have a “take it or leave it” attitude regarding compensation. The company has no regard for the amount of work employees put in and trust, you will be treated like employee #xxxx. Don’t waste your time interviewing (a process which includes more than 7 rounds of coding, system design, and even an additional presentation) with this company because they truly do not care about your efforts. Again, you are just a number in the eyes of the co founders, CEO, and CTO.
Advice to Management
Do better! The way you treat your employees (both current and prospective) will continue to negatively the impact company image so long as people like myself continue to show your true colors.
