What is the retirement plan like at FreeWheel?

Pros

- They had a good 401k matching program - Getting fired is close to impossible

Cons

People of color in client-facing roles have a significantly harder time getting promotions than their white counterparts. POC can work their tails off, put in time, and still not get promoted. A lot of this has to do with questionable people who were put into management roles. You'll see the same managers passing up POCs during promotion cycles. Managers who happen to be POC are much better about this, but there are very few managers at FW who are POC. I believe this issue largely has to do with bias from managers who may believe POCs are not as strong in the client facing aspects of their roles (being a "friendly" face, having strong communication skills, etc.), which are all obviously untrue. If you're skeptical of this, take a look on Linkedin of FW employees and see how long it takes for POC to get promoted. Make comparisons to white employees, and you will see white employees speed through promotions while POC are stuck in the role they were hired in or take years to move up.

Pros

- colleagues are friendly and easy to work with - very good work-life balance - Comcast (parent company) provides competitive benefits

Cons

- Senior management seems completely lost in the world of media, advertising, and technology. Struggles to set a clear strategy, have attainable goals, or even really know who the competitors are. - Promotions and new titles are given to individuals based almost no previous history of success. - Little vision of what the product should like over the next 5 years. Still relying on the tech and market position of 7 years ago. - As the company has grown, less emphasis placed on the culture and community.
