How are promotions handled at Freshworks?

Pros

Good culture Great product Very talented people Freshworks has the building blocks to be one of the best companies in the bay area, and dominate their markets.

Cons

Your experience depends on your manager. Some are fantastic, some are very difficult to work for. Lacking in overall support to some teams. If you're not an Account Executive, you're not going to be a priority. A 2019/2020 rush of hiring has resulted in some poor organizational decisions and a management team that isn't prepared to meet the demands of a large workforce, and hasn't included enough women in pivotal roles. Promotions are rare, and some roles have no path to promotion whatsoever. In a company expanding so rapidly, they should be looking internal-first. There isn't a coordinated sales & marketing effort to build the customer base. Each team is doing things in their own way, and the strategy changes day-by-day. Pay is well below market rate.

Advice to Management

Take the above criticism seriously to drive organizational change, and FW will dominate. When several employees all have complaints about the same problem areas, actually take action.

Promotions are rare, and some roles have no path to promotion whatsoever.

How do employees feel about their professional development opportunities at Freshworks?

Pros

- Great team culture - Transparent leadership - Interesting products - Neverending learning - Excellent mentorship programs - Products that work and are a delight to work with - When we were in the office, there are catered lunches each week and snacks available

Cons

Onboarding is improving, but it is still a little scattershot / you need to ramp yourself. Training materials lack a central home, they are spread out across multiple shared drives, webpages, and training repositories. It can be daunting to learn multiple products in depth to become a generalist and consider oneself an SME across all of them.

Advice to Management

Keep up the transparency and the efforts to scale with your own growth in employees
