What are perks and other benefits like at Gan Teck Kar Investments?

Pros

GTK is an established company that has been in business for almost 30 years. They have established relationships and networks with many of Singapore's F&B companies. They carry a vast array of products and well loved brands. The company is always open to ideas and brining in new products to accommodate its customers requests. There is no commission for sales personnel in GTK which results in the sales team working together rather then competing with each other. It is a great place for a sales person to hone their skills and grow their network in the FMCG, F&B industry of Singapore. The benefits and compensation package is not too bad for a family owned business with reference to the current market rate. They have great dental and health care packages. Lunch is provided FOC daily and there is a gym / recreational area.

Cons

It is however a family owned business and room for career advancement within the company maybe limited. There is no commission structure, thus competition is limited or non existent between colleagues. And sales personnel are required to go above and beyond without incentive. With regards to employment, the non-compete clause is relatively long. Basic annual leave package could be improved.

Advice to Management

Great experience and pleasure working together.

The benefits and compensation package is not too bad for a family owned business with reference to the current market rate.

- Location - "Visually impaired" management - Bootlicking culture wins - Backstabbers and bootlickers are trusted - No proper SOPs. processes are in place as people are asked to go without proper handover - Promotes people who are not the best role for the position and yet do not trust them at managing the department or staff, some are even incompetent, yet they are promoted just because the bosses like them with their bootlicking skills - Boss who is a scaredy-cat, sacks staff from the hearsay of people he wants to hear yet he is scared of confrontation with the individuals, always pushes someone else to settle on his behalf - He assesses staff's performance from hearsay of people he trusts and not what he sees - You can be privileged staff enjoying all the power and trust this moment, and at the bottom rock the next, just because privileged people who are green-eyed talked bad about you to the boss. - Unfair dismissal is common and happened almost every week. - Your work effort will not be appreciated with what you have done to make the company better, but how you make the boss feels good about himself. - No matter how hard or long you have worked for the company, the boss will not care once he feels that it is time for you to go, without proper performance assessment and reason. - No appreciation to the staff as no increment for the past years as the boss said the company is not making money, yet he spent a lot on unnecessary stuff that helps to boost his pride and keep his face - Exploitation is what they are best at!

Advice to Management

Open your eyes and close your ears to see the performance of the staff. Show appreciation to those who had worked hard for you. Best is to change the management!

Does Gan Teck Kar Investments offer massages?

Pros

If you are able to do your job well, you get to learn a lot. Meals provided Gym provided Clean toilets Drink includes latte and sometimes beer Friendly colleagues that helps you if you ask and even if they don't know, they are able to direct you to the person that might know to teach you.

Cons

Never ever over step to another department work without consulting them or discuss to an agreement, the office politics war will start, it does sounds bad like how the others commented but imagine you walk into your friends house and rearranged it to suit you instead of your friend, as long as everyone can respect each departments rules and policy, there is no problems and everyone lives in peace.
