What kind of career opportunities exist at Garden Light LED?

Pros

The environment that the employees create is amazing, and are always ready to help. for the most part everyone is willing to go above, and beyond to help look out for one another, and make sure that all areas of the company are getting the appropriate task done in a timely manner. The people are what make this place great. Everyone from Production team that builds the product to the Shipping Department that make sure everything gets out the door on time is what holds this building together. Even tho there is rarely an opportunity for advancement you can pick up a variety of valuable skills from working on the verity of different projects the ownership will have you working on.

Cons

The ownership cannot get out of their own way, and allow the company to run like a proper manufacturer. When they do decide to come into the office the normal operational producers go out the window, and the Ownership micromanages which ever aspect of the company they choose to focus on that day to a snails pace which in turn causes issues with every other department associated with the one they a choosing to needle. The ownership also has a habit of making emotionally based snap decisions just prior to taking 1-2 month long vacations, and leaving heads of other departments to "just figure it out, and make it work". The ownership is also addicted to self-help, and motivational support programs to the point he forces others to follow whatever program, or diet plan he is preaching about that week regardless of a persons own medical issues an history. At times the ownership can be very generous, but in turn will use what ever gifts, or lunches the company offers as justifications to be a bully around the office. When ever the ownership is in the building there is an immediate dark cloud that hangs over the entire building, and everyone actively avoid interacting with him as much as possible. The ownership is very tight, and evasive when it comes to doing things like evaluations, reviews, and bonuses when they are supposed to.

Advice to Management

Make sure to get everything in writing, and make sure that any conversations involving the Ownership involve at least 2 other members of management or department heads. Also understand that any procedures, or plans you plan to put into place no mater how long you try to get them in place can instantly be brushed aside as a waste if the ownership chooses not to care about it any more. Make sure to make a record of things like this because it is likely that within a months time the ownership will decide that that issue he recently said was no longer a issues is now the root cause of the issues with the company ability to make money.
