What is the salary like at Gartner?

Pros

HRA - very process driven (can be a pro or con), use of Workday for tasks, receive reference and visa letters through HR Inbox. Collaborate across EMEA, America and APAC. Good working environment, culture is developing positively. Benefits and pay are very good, Vitality private health (includes tons of benefits), dental insurance, good maternity pay, pension is double up to 8%, 2 cafes on site, gym for free at Egham. London office now offers virtual yoga and facilitates a lunch running club. Charity Match - will match whatever you donate to charities of your choosing

Cons

Progression is unfortunately rigid and strict to be in seat for typically 2 years before promotion. Company is centered only around sales and money - corporate functions do not benefit from paid Christmas parties, summer parties, team building days, information is very top down.. you are 'told' information from team in America, same for HRP's. I wish they did more to help society, don't give enough budget for this. These activities are only associate driven.

Advice to Management

Be more human

What are other benefits and incentives like at Gartner?

Pros

Garner invests a lot in new employees and expects a lot in return. For example, everyone is expected to make 100% of their goal. In management's words "That's the job." You're brought in to do more than the job. When an account does not renew, a meeting with multiple layers is called...fun times. The good side is that the benefits are great and comp is great.

Cons

You'll work hard. Period. Lots of pressure, as this is a sales driven organization (emphasis on the drive). I don't know that this is a con necessarily, but be aware this is no cake walk. Many successful reps have made personal sacrifices of which clients are unaware. So be nice to your reps.

Advice to Management

Thanks for the ramp-up. I learned a lot. Great job on the analyst/research side! It's the part of the organization I enjoyed the most.

The good side is that the benefits are great and comp is great.

Does Gartner offer stock options or a stock purchase plan?

Pros

Brilliant, humble co-workers and leadership team. The benefits are outstanding, from the 401k, PTO, to Medical and Stock Purchase Program. As a 20 yr veteran of the IT field, I have never worked at an org who had a better work-life balance. As a very inquisitive individual, it is awesome to have access to all the Gartner Research and Analyst.

Cons

You must be a very good time manager or you will struggle to find the right balance and prioritization of work. The onboarding program ramp-up may be a bit aggressive for some, but I would not change it.

Advice to Management

Continue what you are doing. Continue focusing on bringing in humble analysts who work well with others.
