Advice to Management

When in management and we get transferred to new stores the expectations should be similar. Every single store’s atmosphere is unrecognizable in expectations and routines. Treat management members just as well as low responsibility positions. It’s dehumanizing to have all the work you do on the clock completely invalidated because you didn’t stay late or didnt come in on your day off. Our personal time is just as important as company time. Good associates recognize this. This company puts emphasis on reducing turnover these are some key points that need more emphasis and policies to protect and encourage the work-life balance this company champions on all its hiring platform and employee portals. Hold your store/district management accountable for failing to uphold these ideals themselves. If you ask us to stay late or work overtime stop cutting that overtime and favoring budgets over the real work people put in to help put the store in a better place. Again, Department managers and their assistants aren’t scapegoats. Cross training management in multiple functions of their department is For knowledge and support, not a crutch for stores to lean on then turn around and consistently demand more and more while having a “you’re a manager we expect more of you” attitude while we are already doing 3 or more peoples jobs. It’s disappointing, but welcome to Harris Teeter.
