Does Hologic offer a yearly bonus?

Pros

Standard benefits that every other company gives. Also a slight increase in salary + bonus every year.

Cons

- Upper management's "engagement" policies are a sham. They do not engage with the lower employees period. - Be prepared to take on triple the workload for very low pay compared to other companies. Also be prepared to work with very limited resources, and upper management will NOT backfill any positions. - Upper management's idea of "engagement" is to come in every few months with a 15 minute speech. That does not work. - You will work on very poorly managed projects with half your resources and half the usual deadline. - VERY SLOW CAREER GROWTH. Be prepared to face years of hard work with no promotion in sight. Ever.

Advice to Management

1. Actually ENGAGE with your lower employees. Don't just come in and talk for 15 minutes and leave. It's not our job to get to know you. It's your job to get to know US. 2. When a department says they need resources, actually listen and give them resources early on. Don't say you have no money but then we find out you spent xxx million to acquire another site. 3. Plan your projects so they don't actually triple our already copious workloads with half the time.

Also a slight increase in salary + bonus every year.

Does Hologic offer stock options or a stock purchase plan?

Pros

They have a good international network.

Cons

No organic growth. Hologic buy companies with technologies they don’t fully understand, then are amazed with the growing pains. Engineers who started with Hologic resented the fact that Gen-Probe engineers had company cars, fantastic stock options, and pay higher then the national average. It lead Hologic engineers calling the GP engineers “entitled”. Hologic engineers also worked 40 hours a week due to the simplistic nature of their acquired Cytec technology. GP sold molecular diagnostic equipment for high-volume labs which required a lot more maintenance and troubleshooting. Due to the complexity of the machines and reference labs requiring immediate service, GP engineers worked long hours and weekends. Hologic was amazed by the overtime GP engineers needed for PMs and some repairs. FSE managers at Hologic merely sign off paperwork and are not involved in actual engineering. Repairs on some instruments would take weeks rather than days, as engineers were not allowed to have there own autonomy in making decisions on the next course of action.

Advice to Management

Your cash cow Panther has been given a boost by the COVID-19 business, but the instrument is a decade old. Try coming up with your own instruments and technology, not just add ons to keep the Panther limping along.

Probe engineers had company cars, fantastic stock options, and pay higher then the national average.

What are sales commissions like at Hologic?

Pros

100% vested in 401K from day 1 Monthly contribution match they hire your account same month Solid car allowance

Cons

100% commission Terrible leadership Claim to be flat organization but if you reach out about anything you are “complaining.”

Advice to Management

Culture isn’t based on what leadership says it is. It is based on how employees are treated, how well they are compensated, and how much flexibility and autonomy they have.
