What is working from home like at Imperva?

Pros

- Pre-COVID there were good benefits. - Nice perks. - Work-Life balance is good. You are given freedom with your time management and work from home as you want.

Cons

- Over macro-management. You are expected to fully manage yourself. Managers dodge a lot of duties you'd expect managers to do, and they are usually engineers who were promoted without any managing experience. - An incredibly tiring amount of meetings. - Terrible task and sprint management - Bad utilization of tools like Jira. - They give you the feeling that "everyone is nice", but in practice you need to chase others to work with you as not all engineers cooperate and want to help and tend to pass on the responsibility, especially between different teams. - No real way for developer to improve and learn new things since the emphasis is more on reaching deadlines while leaving lots of technical debts on the way. - Legacy code with less emphasis on quality and a lot of messy infrastructures. - Product managers are not working with developers well and usually aren't involved enough with the development process. - Another security company - Make sure you like the field if you wanna work here. - Salary is average. - Bureaucratic company with all the entailed disadvantages.

Advice to Management

- Stop your toxic "culture of nice" when giving feedback and talking to each other - It's OK to give negative criticism when it's for the improvement of the employee. - Focus on your employees development instead of rushing to lead on your competitors, otherwise you won't have anyone to help you compete. - Tell the truth to employees when recruiting them - Deceiving them will only hurt you in the long run. - Your way of reviewing and giving feedback to your employees in their yearly performance meeting is not as good as you think and very confusing to new employees. - Re-organize your teams - You think you have everything sorted out but there are teams who have a lot mess and can't manage themselves with "macro-managers".

You are given freedom with your time management and work from home as you want.

How is the work/life balance at Imperva?

Pros

I'm in Imperva for a few years now. I'm working with the top technologies, great people, cool new offices, work life balance and a lot of understanding for parents. We are also working hybrid from home and from the offices.

Cons

Imperva is a private company- we don't have RSUs or ESPPs and it can effect the total compensation.

What is overtime like at Imperva?

Pros

A few things that I would list: - The senior management did an excellent job from 2018 to identify the gaps as a company and has brought the workplace to a whole new level - Compensation of employees were revised and the company has proved itself to be on the top of the market comparing to its competitors - The culture is at its best. Less political, everyone’s opinion has value, adoption to new trends, constant improvement with benefits, flexible work life, very less overtime work since hiring has had a massive surge in the last couple of years - Management is focused on grooming existing employees’ career growth according to individual goals and is willing to be innovative to achieve them - Most friendly executives I have seen in any company, where even level 1 engineers have the freedom to reach out to them

Cons

- Office space is not sufficient to accommodate the growth in hiring - Wide portfolio of products, it might be too much for a person to absorb all - specialized teams might help

Advice to Management

Kudos to all the work that is being done!
