Is IndependenceFirst a good company to work for?

Pros

I love working for a place that helps people live independently in the community. The benefits are great! People are great! Building is 100% accessible and over half the employees and board have a disability. People are respected and genuinely care about you.

Cons

Wish I would have found it sooner.

Advice to Management

Grow so more people can enjoy working here.

What is the company culture at IndependenceFirst?

Pros

-Friendly and genuine staff in the Fund Development department -Nice, clean, and quiet work space -Free food and snacks -Plenty of parking

Cons

-Roles aren't well defined -Work was dull at times -Not a lot of interaction with coworkers -Didn't get to meet other volunteers or get to know them -Never got a key card within the 2 months I volunteered there -Office staff could have a little bit more enthusiasm and energy -Receptionists seemed unprofessional at times (gossiping, etc.)

Advice to Management

Throw more department or organization-wide events so staff can get to know each other. I think there was a lot of potential to build chemistry and team spirit with the office staff, but I think there could have been more opportunities to do so. Otherwise, keep doing what you're doing! I think the mission and values are great and I believe the organization will stick around for a long time!
