What are perks and other benefits like at KVH Industries?

Pros

Worked on really cool technology (fiber optic gyros), had good benefits, nice people.

Cons

Only worked there for ~4 months, being cut due to downsizing. They gave me a descent package though, especially given how short my employment was with them. Engineering process conflicted with the current chip shortage, but I'm guessing a lot of companies have that issue...

Does KVH Industries offer massages?

Pros

- Innovative Company - Inertial Nav esp. - Friendly work culture - frequent hellos and goodbyes by fellow KVHers - nice people in general. - Modern technology is everywhere - Decent amount of data to work with - across departments - No lack of projects. In fact, there's a lot of work to be done - Anytime Fitness member perk that is also right next door - Yoga and Meditation classes on site - Nice, well kept campus - Decent Pay - You get a bonus - Good Benefits - Highly corporate culture, if you're into that kinda thing. - The CEO is cordial - There's a spaceship coffee machine...there really should be more than one. Shhhhhh don't be too loud! There's a demo in the media center! - Treats on Fridays - Ruffles, Goldfish, M&Ms, Cheesepuffs(seriously tho?), soft drinks, hard drinks, and big jenga. - Free lunch one day a month where they do a raffle - Career pathing and advancement opportunities are emerging - "Open door policy-ish" - You interact with a ton of stakeholders and directors - In a good location if you're local to Aquidneck Island.

Cons

- General feeling of discombobulation, and suspicion across departments - and across the pond. - One is heard, but not listened to - Hard work is acknowledged, but not rewarded - Little budget for employee education - Lots of hallway chatter/politics - Pretty conservative

Advice to Management

HR: You hear people, and are nice - which is great. Be a little more proactive in discovering workplace pain points related to employee relations. IT: Polish your work a little better. Things are pretty sloppy in conference rooms, and more support is needed for important meetings and presentations. Take more accountability for all things technical at KVH. Salesforce: More experience is needed here, but progress is being made - slowly. Have patience with the stakeholders and know that the work you do is pretty remarkable. Technical people see this. Sales: You're only as good as the materials you are using to sell - keep communicating with Marketing. Marketing: Let the people who are meant to connect the dots, connect the dots. And let the the people who are meant to color inside the lines, color inside the lines. CEO: Be careful of Linchpin Lifers, and your advisers whom appear to have gotten too comfortable in their positions, and accustomed to their incredible salaries. As a result, a "shoot for the dirt so you never miss" mentality has been woven into the fabric of everyday operations. Ultimately, this obscures and misrepresents the company vision to newcomers - and sheds light into the duality of "The KVH Way".

There's a spaceship coffee machine...there really should be more than one.
