What are perks and other benefits like at Kraft Heinz Company?

Pros

Kraft Heinz is a great company to work for. As a Hotdogger, I had one of the most fun jobs in the company: touring the country with the Wienermobile! The job was a challenge to land, and Kraft Heinz provided excellent training and opportunities for growth during the temporary position. I felt very invested in as an employee, even considering I was only hired for a year-long position. My co-workers and management were amazing. Our ideas and feedback were taken seriously and the Hotdogger/Peanutter program continuously evolves based on employee evaluations. There were many perks to being a Kraft Heinz employee, as well as opportunities to be hired on full-time, if we desired.

Cons

Kraft Heinz operates on a strict budget system, which affects employees of all levels.

What is health insurance like at Kraft Heinz Company?

Pros

Turnover is high, no one wants to work for the company, so you can grow in your career extremely fast.

Cons

If you work in a manufacturing facility you work 10-12 hours everyday, I've worked up to 16 hour days before. This includes Monday- Monday, that's right, often times 7 days a week. No compensation for working more hours, while your manager has every weekend off. They are an unethical company overall. They glorify people who do whatever it takes to get numbers. That means no regard for food safety, people, or giving your team the resources to get the job done. It is all about making cuts and never about seeing the bigger picture. When I started the stock was $82 per share and now it is $32.07, so none of these measures have been successful and they have not done anything to make the company culture better. Lastly, when I put my two weeks in they asked me not to come back and did not pay out my two weeks or my vacation time. I had already worked two days of that pay period. Their 401K match is 100% to 2.5%, then they match 50% up to 6%, very low compared to all the other companies I interviewed with and then took a different job at. Health insurance is not great, and no employee perks. When employees who had been working at the company for 40 years retire HR did not even give them a thank you card for their dedication. The HR team in Massillon would pick and choose who and they wanted to enforce their policies on.

Advice to Management

Sell the company.

Health insurance is not great, and no employee perks.

Does Kraft Heinz Company offer tuition reimbursement?

Pros

You can move up quickly in the company if you exceed targets and are flexible in position and location. Great brands make the product easier to present to customers. Field sales get the space they need to work with their customers.

Cons

Culture - Behind closed doors many of your employees are extremely frustrated with Kraft Heinz. They complain of not having the tools and resources to be successful. Field sales is frustrated that we cannot bond as a region. We are forced to attend grueling company meetings and then fly-out with no time to connect with our peers, because we need to meet ZBB. Training - Most of the training when Heinz merged with Kraft was dumped. Most training is read this PowerPoint and jump in the car with this more senior rep a few times. Lack of constant hands-on training leaves us ill-prepared and selling on price. ZBB - Zero-based Budgeting is a budgeting tool. It should never be your guiding principle. Too often we have lost significant business, because ZBB did not allow us to approve a $500 marketing program with a customer. The manner in which is ZBB is applied at Kraft Heinz does not allow us to be flexible or make judgment calls on what customers we want to partner with. Continuing Education - The tuition reimbursement is only offered to a handful of people in the USA. That dollar amount is also based on on a percentage of your tuition costs. The guidelines on when to apply, what they look for, how many scholarships they hand out, and timelines for acceptance is very murky. In the time I have been with the company they have changed the guidelines for this program each year. I would rather much prefer full-time employees of "x" years of employment get up to $x,xxx per year. Compensation - Base pay is average. Bonuses and sales award are difficult to achieve. For most sales people, annual salary increases are not a thing.

Advice to Management

The model of cutting costs and reinvesting in the business will not last in the long-term (5+ years). We are at a point where sales volume is flat and there is no room to cut anymore costs. Another larger merger will allow us to repeat the process again, but will not prop the company up for long-term success. Leadership needs to invest in brands that have the ability to become the next Oscar Mayer or Philadelphia Cream Cheese. Marketing gimmicks (e.g. Mayochup) will provide very short-term success for the company, but will not be the next iconic brands. As Kraft Heinz gobbles up businesses in the future it will be more difficult for them to build brands that will have a significant impact on top-line growth.

Continuing Education - The tuition reimbursement is only offered to a handful of people in the USA.

Does Kraft Heinz Company offer housing assistance?

Pros

I had a great experience interning at Kraft Heinz. My project challenged me and also provided real benefit to the company. The office environment in Tampa was great, the internship pays well, and housing is included. You are likely to get a job offer if you do well.

Cons

The value of your internship largely depends on your manager (they come up with your project and support you throughout). A lower quality manager would mean a lower quality experience overall.
