What is health insurance like at Langan Engineering and Environmental Services?

Pros

The staffs are among the best in their field. The company is growing rapidly. Multiple locations throughout, so you can switch to another state if you want. They are pretty cool about it. Holidays and Sick Leaves are separate and good.

Cons

Salary raise is minimal less than 5% each year. Reaching a higher position will take extra few years compared to other offices. The year-end bonus is an absolute joke. Health insurance, if you are married, is not good. For single people, it's ok. If you are unlucky as a civil engineer, they will just throw you on-site and forget.

Does Langan Engineering and Environmental Services offer tuition reimbursement?

Pros

Great projects, varied work, good pay w/ overtime for staff, you will interact with very technical people in different disciplines, approachable managers, good growth, good IT department and other technical support, tuition reimbursement. A great place for early career experience, and there is a strong Seller-Doer culture that really rewards those who generate new business for managers and above who are adept at business development.

Cons

Work-life balance is very challenging. Very high utilization targets. Silo structure with poor cooperation and sometimes internal competition between senior managers. The strong Seller-Doer culture rewards the sellers far more than doers, and there is no technical career advancement track. If you don't sell, you plateau. The silos and seller focus also results in a general lack of corporate guidance, training, and administrative support surprising for a company of their size and caliber of projects. Early career staff are mostly insulated from these cons though.

Advice to Management

Your employees, clients, and projects are great- keep them. Destroy the silos. Develop a rewarding technical career track. Invest more in administrative programs instead of expecting employees to do it in their "spare" time.

Great projects, varied work, good pay w/ overtime for staff, you will interact with very technical people in different disciplines, approachable managers, good growth, good IT department and other technical support, tuition reimbursement.

Does Langan Engineering and Environmental Services offer unlimited time off?

Pros

Good benefits and decent vacation time, but still using the separate sick time and vacation time model. Leadership is solid and keeps employees regularly updated on the vision of the company and does a good job of keeping employees happy through events and perks that make everyday office life a little better. Office culture is good and people work hard because they generally like what they're doing.

Cons

Personally, I got stuck doing the same thing for too long without much growth in salary or title, though that could be chalked up to lack of entrepreneurial spirit at the time.

Good benefits and decent vacation time, but still using the separate sick time and vacation time model.

Company News
More than 400 managers traveled from Langan’s 30+ offices to Walt Disney World for our 2022 Managers Forum last week. This year’s forum doubled as our delayed 50th anniversary celebration, which was originally scheduled for March 2020 before we proactively cancelled it due to the uncertainty of COVID-19. Focused on the theme "Resilient & Growing," the multi-day event empowered employees to celebrate our resilience and achievements over the past year while exploring ways to bolster our growth, collaboration, and success going forward. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this event happen! #lifeatLangan
