What is overtime like at Life Time?
Pros
Free Membership. Great relationship with fellow team members.
Cons
They pressure workers to move up the ladder because that's the only way you'll ever get a raise. You could be there for years and not get a single raise if you remain a regular team member. Life time is one of the most incredibly inconsistent companies I have ever worked for in regards to how much they always try to change every aspect of building operations. This has also been noticed and critiqued by paying members. No chance of overtime unless in emergency situations such as a no-call, no-shows. If you do end up getting promoted, you don't receive proper training and are expected to know what you're doing. You are therefore consistently criticized for not meeting their insanely high expectations even though you have to figure everything out on your own. High turnover of managers are a byproduct of those business tactics (or lack of). Many members treat the operations department like peasants and have no respect for the club or the team members. There's a bad member culture in this location because they have very little consequences for disrespecting any rules or team members. 30 minute breaks are frowned upon in this department for some reason. I've helped out in several locations and this seemed to be the case in all of them. With the book of daily tasks you are responsible for plus maintaining the building during high traffic hours, those breaks should be enforced, not frowned upon. Work/Life balance isn't the greatest either. If you work for Life time, you are expected to make it your life.
