What are perks and other benefits like at Lifeway Christian Resources?

Pros

The people are kind and you get to help be a part of incredible biblical content. Leadership seems willing to seek out change, whereas past leaders were stuck.

Cons

You’re underpaid, you can’t move up into the company, and pigeonholed into customer service. CS is not included in the rest of the company’s perks. PTO is included in your benefits, but you cannot get time off approved unless you’ve been at the company 15 years or more.

Advice to Management

Take care of the people that take care of your customers.

PTO is included in your benefits, but you cannot get time off approved unless you’ve been at the company 15 years or more.

What is health insurance like at Lifeway Christian Resources?

Pros

- Really great team atmosphere. - Managers genuinely care about their reports and their families. - Really good engineering leaders that promote innovation, clean architecture principles, and faith-based values. - Early adopters of "remote first" work. - Pretty good 401k match.

Cons

- In general, the outlook of Lifeway's future is not great. The company has had to consolidate significantly to keep the lights on (even before COVID). - The day to day operations of the business tend to muddy the missional aspects of the work that happens. (Maybe that was just me) - With the lack of many good digital product/platform ideas, there are less and less interesting engineering opportunities at the company. - Top heavy decision making. This one is especially challenging with a more newly tenured CITO who does not operate in a way suitable for a healthy engineering organization. - A very deadline heavy environment, mostly pushed from ignorance at the top. - Mediocre health benefits compared to market. - Pay-scale well below market value. This problem is extra apparent for individual contributor's who are not vocal in pursuing raises/advocating for themselves.

Mediocre health benefits compared to market.

"As the world emerged from the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, Lifeway helped churches regain a sense of normalcy while also equipping them for the future. “Lifeway saw many churches joyfully re-engage in ministry activities in 2021 that had to be sidelined or altered for a season due to the pandemic,” said Ben Mandrell, Lifeway president and CEO. “At the same time, churches are also evaluating their next steps. Throughout this past year, Lifeway has continued to strategically adapt to meet the needs of today’s churches while also positioning them for future ministry.” Continue reading: https://blog.lifeway.com/newsroom/2021/12/20/lifeway-helps-churches-return-to-normalcy-in-2021/

Both of these have been priorities for Lifeway as we focus on the needs of our customers,” Mandrell said. “We know it’s important for church leaders to find just the right resource at the right time in their ministry. “We’ve taken our customers’ feedback and have been making much-needed improvements to our website,” he continued. “We want to do everything we can to make it easy for church leaders to find the ministry resources they need to be more effective in the work they do.”
