Pros

Mendix offers a stellar product, truly world class. There's a lot of people in the organisation putting their heart and soul into it. And it shows. Compensation is beyond competitive, especially in sales-related roles. Secondary benefits are solid too and you will get all the hard- and software you need to do your job. The office in Rotterdam is fantastic. It's a great place to work, physically. When you are after a well-paid job at a solid corporate, with a superb product in a maturing market, smart colleagues (especially in R&D); Siemens/Mendix might be right for you.

Cons

There is a lot of talk by HR (called People&Culture) about your career, your opportunities and Diversity & Inclusion. However in reality career progression and personal development is unclear, and heavily dependent on your direct manager. Internal communication is poor and always after-the-fact. And the factual decisions communicated are not made by a very 'diverse' group. More importantly the organisation is not what it once was. When Siemens purchased Mendix a few years ago, they bought a thriving, scaling digital organisation with a 'get it done' attitude. However since then, most pillars left and hiring seem to have been focused on experience over aptitude or eagerness. Nobody seems to realise that Mendix is gone and simply is a part of Siemens. The result is an increasingly slow and political organisation, tragically hanging on to what it once was.

Advice to Management

Acknowledge what you are: a department within Siemens. Stop clinging on to being 'Mx Blue', there's nobody who knows what that is. You can't be a young, hip and fast startup, and simultaneously be part of one of the largest, oldest corporates in the world.
