Does Merrill Lynch offer tuition reimbursement?

Pros

Great benefits, flexibility to finish school and tuition reimbursement. an be a stressful atmosphere to work in due to the nature of the job but they have a lot of team activities now and then on Fridays

Cons

In my case I was hired part time but I came from working at Bank of America so I was expecting a better pay than an inter with no experience at all and also no insurance benefits because you're part time (which you do get at the bank) so to me it was a little frustrating that being the same company they don't offer the same benefits. Also, if you're an "intern" there should be more opportunity to learn from other senior Client Associates or FAs but everyone is so busy on their own work that it's difficult to learn more than the job requires

Advice to Management

I would advise to have a better system in place for intern hires, since most of us come on board to learn from the industry and use it to stay with the company after we graduate school. Also the benefits should be the same as a part time associate with Bank of America

Great benefits, flexibility to finish school and tuition reimbursement.

Does Merrill Lynch pay for professional licenses?

Pros

You get an idea of the financial business with the licensing study, but you get paid for

Cons

Intellectually thin environment compared to other industries, very surprised by that. It’s an industry of nepotism, where financial advisors primarily bring in their own family money to get on a team to then make or break them selves by staying in that team or being fired once the senior financial visor absorbs the funds and manages them to the satisfaction of the clients.

Advice to Management

No matter what management says about Hardwork it’s not hard work at all, if you don’t have a family or a friend network with millions you will not make it in this industry. Every financial advisor that last beyond the three years is not at all from hard work it’s from lobbying their relatives and friends for funds in excess of 30 million usd by year three. If you can’t do that, if you don’t have a network like that already, you’re not going to get it in one year as a junior financial advisor, all you’re gonna do is bring in small assets for that senior financial visor or Merrill Lynch general account and then they’re going to fire you. Put it this way, it’s about 96% attrition rate for Junior financial visors in the downtown San Diego office. Even though Merrill contends that it’s 50%, it’s not.
