What is the company culture at NeoGenomics?

Pros

Great Company, Benefits are good, atmosphere is good and the department is trying to get better

Cons

So much change in a little amount of time. No value to the employees, feel like we are just a number and if we are not part of the "popular group" then we get really no attention

Advice to Management

Let me preface this by saying the what Neo does is absolutely amazing and I believe they are leading the way in the industry. Now, please understand, I am not writing this review as a disgruntled employee, but more as an advice to you all. Neo has gone through a lot of change in such a short amount of time. Value your employees! Especially in Billing. We bust our rears to do our best to make the company look and do well. We are not just another number or statistic. We try hard and do our best, but sometimes management doesn't look at that. If you are not doing exactly "perfect" then you are on the radar of management and are considered a bad seed. I was with the company for 4 years and I have gone through 6 supervisors and 3 billing managers. I have applied for three different positions and I was advised by my own supervisor that "I cannot lose my best reps because I cannot fill the position." I am sorry but this is not how a supervisor should really encourage a team. What I think is sad, is the team I was on could not keep reps on it fast enough. We would hire someone, and they would quit within a week because of how we were being treated. I felt always singled out because I would challenge both the lead and the supervisor on processes and procedures that I did not feel was correctly followed or did not feel right. When I would bring it up in meetings, I felt as though it was brushed under the rug, or that I was labeled as the complainer. I am in no way perfect and I have my own fair share of faults and I take 100% responsibility for everything I do, but I was always the one that was approached to cover other team members schedules because we had to always have phone coverage. They tried to turn our department into a Call Center, and we were not really able to attend any gatherings such as company meetings, or huddles to discuss company processes. I understand that Patients are the number one priority of Neo, but you really need to listen to your employees more. People are afraid to speak up because all the management ever does is shut us all down and not listen to our concerns. I was one of the longest people on the team and I would have 1:1 with my supervisor and I never felt as though she was listening. Every single time we met, she would always point out what I was doing wrong and never give me feedback on what I was doing correctly or give me anything positive. I loved working there but I was tired of being under appreciated. I am tired of being told that I could not promote because my supervisor would not allow me to leave her team. In the 5 years I worked at Neo, I missed a total of 3 days. I was always the one to help wherever I was needed and I would always come in early, sometimes as early as 445am and work until 4pm due to coverage issues, and never say no because I wanted to always be a team player. I was always told that I was not good enough, however my QC Scores were always meeting/exceeding, and I would have letters from both patients and providers sent in on how wonderful I was and the great service I was providing but I never received a congratulations or thank you from management. Now in regards to our Team Lead, she is someone that needs more training on how to be a lead. She and I would but heads because I would challenge her on how things she requested me to do. I would bring issues and trends up to management and again nothing was done. There would be other members of the Team doing the same thing, and again, nothing was done. Please understand that in order to be a team lead, you have to be able to effectively communicate with your team and not talk down to them. I was constantly made to feel inadequate and that I did not know how to do my job, so bad that I was on the verge of quitting because I felt as though I was going no where. My rating on the Career Opportunities is One star because in the 5 years I was there I was never promoted or given positive feedback to improve myself I was under management that did not want to help develop me into an even better employee. For the amount of work I was required to do, I felt as though I could have been compensated a little more, and when we would have our performance reviews, I would only get a 1.5% -2% salary increase, where as other members of my department doing the same job that I was and who were there a shorter amount of time would get a 3-4% raise? How is that fair? I hated having to leave Neo but I felt as though my career was at a stand still and I could not effectively grow into a stronger and valued employee.
